Sponsored Post: Comparing #whatsbeautiful

I have been putting off writing this race recap because I was grappling with some self loathing, defeat, disappointment, etc...

Basically,
I didn't finish with a PR in the 20k...like I wanted...and I was upset about that..really upset...

But why? Why was I so upset...I still got under 2 hours, it was still one of the faster times I have run, and I finished despite excruciating hip pain, toe pain...why was this not good enough....

The cold hard fact---->It's comparing myself to others,
its what it all boils down to,
and trying to achieve what they can acheive...
and when I can't do that, then I become very hard and unforgiving on myself...
stupid competitive gene

And for what reason, there is no good reason...no one cares how fast I ran it...
people were just congratulating me for going and finishing and being able to walk the next day(which I was barely able to do, hip injury means overcompensating with other muscles...let's just say it was a sight to see)

I need to take a freaking chill pill and just relish these moments, and be thankful that I can run these races, that my body allows me to do this stuff, and that I am capable of so many things...

So in lieu of this epiphany....

I am going to be proud that :

I ran the last 6 of 12 miles injured and I didn't stop, when I wanted to so badly
I completed 3 challenging races in 3 weekends for the Under Armour What's Beautiful Campaign

That my kids are able to see their parents being active (we brought our medals to them and you would of thought we were 1st place finishers, they were so happy for us)

And lastly, I need to realize that I do not have a runner's body, I have never been an "efficient" runner..I have had to work at running...hard...and I am okay with that, I am athletic, I am strong and gosh darnit people love me (name that movie)

I think long distances and I are going to part ways for a little while and I am going to focus on Crossfit.  I bought a coupon on Groupon a long time ago and while I do my own crossfit workouts at home, I thought it would be interesting to try a "box" out...

So here is my race recap in pictures:

Has your body ever said...hell no I won't go....did you power through the race or stop and cut out?
