Things to consider when buying a running shoe

When I was figuring out what running shoe to buy for my feet (high arches) and my husbands (flat feet),  I really "googled" myself silly analyzing different styles, and reviews. I went to stores, tried shoes on, thought about it and finally settled on a shoe...you see, running isn't a natural thing for me, and I have to work at it...I hated track in high school, I loved passing people, but hated the running aspect of it:) so I went out for tennis...but

running and I have reunited, and it is a part of me now.....and I love it, like half marathon love it

and if I am going to do it right
then I need the right pair of shoes

A few helpful tips:

Flat Footed

Issues: If you're flat-footed, an overpronator, which means that your feet roll inward when you run.
Recommended:  a running shoe that maintains your stability. In some cases, orthotics might be needed. look for key words "motion control" and "stability" on the shoe box

High-arched Feet (me)

Issues:  you probably supinate or underpronate, which means your feet roll outwards as you run.
Recommended: You need to look for flexible running shoes with a soft midsole that absorbs shock. look for the words "flexible" or "cushioned" on the shoe box

Neutral or Normal Feet

Issues:  This is the most common type of foot, and it's also the least susceptible to injury provided it's outfitted with proper footwear.
Recommended: If you have normal feet, you can choose from a wide variety of running shoes.  Stay away from shoes that say motion control or stability on them.

So there are my tips for picking out running shoes, probably pretty common knowledge in the fitness world but I thought I would share...

So what shoe did we settle on: Mizuno Inspires for me, and Saucony's for him
The Mizunos provide just the right amount of stability, support, and cushioning I need!

Workouts:

The weather has just been gorgeous so I wanted to get out and get a run in and soak up the goodness, so Big E and I set out to do just that.  Nice an easy 3 mile run....and yes, his shirt is true...he does do all his own stunts...off of my couch......

Eats:

 Breakfast:
Over cooked 1 egg, 1 egg white, and roasted peppers and avocado, but yet still so tasty

Lunch
Pork cutlet
Romaine Lettuce with Pears and avocado
Sweet Potato on the side

Supper:

So my stomach was grumbling before the run, but as soon as we got done, not so hungry...but I threw together some eggs and bacon for Big E and I to nosh on.  This applewood smoked bacon was fantastic and it was from a farm here in Iowa called VandeRose Farms.  If you live in Iowa I suggest you try it, you can get it at your local Hy-Vee.

Like I said previously, we have  busy weekend ahead and I know it will just fly by.  Family and football tonight, family and football tomorrow, and football on Sunday....ahhh, love the fall.

Whats your plans for the weekend?
