Polar FT40..my coach I keep on my wrist

I have gotten a lot of questions about the watch I wear in my workouts and what brand and if I like it and so I thought I would do a review of it.
After much research on which ones to get I settled in on the Polar Ft40F Women's Heart Rate Monitor Watch(White) and absolutely love it.
(a handful of the pictures of me and my Polar FT40)

This watch is for active people who want to gauge their fitness level while working out and that is exactly what I was looking for.
  • The EnergyPointer tells you if the main effect of your training is fitness improvement or fat burning
  • The Polar Fitness test measures your aerobic fitness at rest and tells you your progress
  • Displays calories burned
  • Comes with comfortable fabric transmitter and coded heart rate transmission to avoid cross-talk
Does pretty much everything, and you can set the alarms so if you fall below your heart rate level that you want to be at, it will alert you…your own personal coach

Some other fun goodies from their website to show you what this baby can do:
Body measurement features
  • Average and maximum heart rate of training
  • Heart rate – bpm / %
  • HR-based target zones with visual and audible alarm
  • HRmax (user set)
  • Manual target zone – bpm (upper limit)
  • Polar EnergyPointer
  • Polar Fitness Test
  • Polar OwnCal® – calorie expenditure with fat percentage
  • Polar OwnCode® (5kHz) – coded transmission
Data transfer (separate accessory)
  • Compatible with Mac (Intel-based) via Polar FlowLink
  • Compatible with PC via Polar FlowLink
  • Compatible with polarpersonaltrainer.com via Polar FlowLink
Polarpersonaltrainer.com features (separate feature)
  • Training analyzing
  • Training diary
  • Training Load
  • Training programs
Recording features
  • Totals
  • Training files (with summaries) – 50
  • Weekly history (love looking back on my weekly totals)
Training features
  • Graphical target zone indicator
  • HeartTouch – button-free operation of wrist unit
  • ZoneLock
  • ZonePointer
So hopefully that helps you decide on what heart rate monitor you  should go with, I am not biased or anything but this one rocks and I am a Polar diehard for life

Polar did not compensate me in any way for this review, unfortunately!J I just love the product and thought I would share!

  1. Great review! Curious though... do you swim with your watch? I'm training for my first triathlon and have been considering different HR monitors.

    1. Thanks Amber! Yes, I do. You will have to check the depth on it, but I do laps with it and it is fine.
