Honest Opinions Please

I have an open kitchen, and I always thought what and island would provide. Well, my sister was giving up her "diy" island and I plopped it in mine this weekend to see what it would be like. I want you, my friends, to give me an opinion about what you think. I myself am still on the fence about it. I like have an open kitchen but the island in the middle has been convenient when baking, and cooking. I have more than enough space to walk around it, enough space for fridge door and oven door and dishwasher! I have also thought about putting rollers on it, so I could just wheel it in and out, but I would just have to figure out a place to roll it too and use it as a decor item. Anyways, just let me know what you think, honestly!

  1. Hi Casey! Do you have other wood tones in the house that match the dark legs of the island? Right now it looks out of place, but it's a bit hard to tell because I can't see the wood pieces in the rest of your gorgeous home. Maybe if you tiled the top of it with some cool slate or mosiac? I do like the idea of rollers on the bottom.

  3. are you able to make the pictures a little bigger---or maybe you should have us over to see the inside of your pretty home :) don't think i'm a super weird stalker, but i made jason take me by your house the other night. i had no idea where you lived. Love it from the outside & can't wait to see more of the inside! i say if it doesn't seem too crowded, keep the island. the more counter space the better! but i like nicky's idea about tiling the top of it. or maybe put a cool rug under it to draw in some of the other colors in the room.

  5. I'm a late blog checker. I agree with Amy that more countertop/working area is a good thing as long as it does allow traffic flow. It does stand out from the rest of the natural wood and warm tones you have. I agree with Nicky on maybe tiling the top or trying to do a different finish...could the legs be painted a chocolate brown? I don't remember if you have anything else black in the area to tie it in.
